Travel Dreams

So, I’m less than two weeks away now from our driving trip to Tennessee. I’m starting to get nervous about forgetting things, so I’ve started a list on my white board. I just hope I get everything down on my list!

When we return from that trip, we will have less than a week before we take my husband to a special destination for his birthday. I can’t say where we’re going because he may pop in and read this blog and I don’t want to give away the secret.

We’re not going anywhere outside of the U.S. though, I can say that. My daughter and I don’t yet have our passports. I do have the forms all filled out, but my husband has to go with us because our daughter is just 12 and so both parents are required to be present when her passport application is submitted.

That doesn’t keep me from dreaming about far away, and not so far away lands. I look forward to traveling to destinations around the world. I keep my eye out for special package deals too such as Costa Rica vacation packages or the Bahamas. Either of those places would be right at the top of my list. I love the warm weather and the beaches. That’s my kind of vacation!

Where do you dream of traveling?

Travel Planning

June 22, 2008 on 5:46 pm | In travel | 2 Comments

I’ve got mine and my daughter’s passport applications all filled out. I was able to download them online and complete them. Now, I just have take passport photos and then get my husband to take some time off from work so we can go in and submit them. He has to go along, even though he has his own passport all ready. Because our daughter is a minor, both parents have to be present when submitting her application.

We don’t yet have plans to travel outside the U.S., but I feel that it’s a good idea to be prepare. My husband travels internationally occasionally and, if the timing is right, we could go with him some time. I’ve also been receiving email notifications on really incredible travel deals to the Caribbean, including a beautiful Costa Rica resort that I would love to spend some time at.

Since we don’t yet have our passports, I’ve had to pass on those great deals, but hopefully that will change very soon.

What type of traveling do you do?

Planning A Vacation

June 1, 2008 on 8:14 pm | In Family, travel | No Comments

I spent the last few days planning for my husband’s birthday. It’s going to be a surprise, so I hope he doesn’t choose now to start reading this blog!

In the middle of July, my daughter and I will be driving to Tennessee to attend a flea market where I’ll be meeting my mom and sisters. We’ll be selling (or at least trying to sell) our handmade goods. We’ll be gone for about a week and a half and we’re staying in a really nice cabin that my sister has rented for all of us. We’re pretty excited about the trip, although, recent plans have caused us to shorten our time away.

My husband’s birthday is the end of July. My daughter and I were originally planning on driving up towards Chicago to visit with friends we have been missing since moving south last year. My husband was worried about us being gone so long and doing so much driving. So, my daughter and I talked it over and we have decided that we will come home after the flea market, instead of going to Chicago. Then, we are going to take my husband on a mystery trip for his birthday.

I’m not sure if he reads this blog or not, so I don’t want to say where we’re going. The only information I’ve given him are the dates he needs to take off from work at the end of July and that we’ll be driving. That’s really not much to go on if you think about it. For all he knows, we could be flying and the using a Spain car hire and that would still be “driving”. I didn’t tell him which direction we’ll be going or how long it takes to get there. I didn’t even tell him how far away it is.

Let’s just say, I found us a place that I know we can all three enjoy and there are activities we can do together, as long as we have good weather!  He’s very difficult to please though, so I hope he enjoys it.

Travel to the U.K.

May 21, 2008 on 5:03 pm | In Some of This Some of That | No Comments

I recently wrote about my memories of my excursion to Spain and now I’d like to share some memories of our travels through the U.K., places I would definitely like to revisit.

When I was a senior attending school in Texas, I met my mom, who was living overseas with my dad, in London. We had an absolute blast together. We walked everywhere, unless we were riding a double decker bus. I recall it was Queen Elizabeth’s 50th birthday and so there were a lot of celebrations in the area. I recall walking around the palace and seeing the security in their bright red uniforms standing guard. They are such an icon of London.

While we were in London, we did a lot of shopping. I had to buy clothes for my upcoming graduation and Herrod’s was the perfect place to shop in my opinion! We had so much fun, I’d never been allowed to go on a shopping spree until then and I had a blast!

We did also travel some outside of London. One of my favorite excursions was when we took the train to Inverness, Scotland. We stayed in a quaint hotel and watched for signs of Nessie in the loch. We never did see her, but I do believe she’s there! Our little hotel reminds me of Hotel Scilly Isles another quaint area of the U.K. with beautiful white sandy beaches and an unlimited supply of wildlife. A boat trip is a great way to see this and nearby islands.

Someday, I hope to return to the U.K., there really is just so much history and fun things to see and do.

I’ve visited London several times, but I think that particular trip with my mom, will always stand out as my favorite.

I Will Be Checked Out

May 6, 2008 on 4:14 pm | In Blogging, My Imagination | 2 Comments

As I said in my previous post, I am going to be traveling over the next few days in order to attend my niece’s nursing graduation.  I will be away from the blogoshpere while I’m gone, but I will be back.  My flight leaves tomorrow morning, so the shuttle service is picking me up early to get me to the airport.  I am not even taking my computer with me because I won’t have access to the internet while I’m gone. Unless I happen to be at my niece’s house, then I might get on.  Of course, then I’ll have to fight my sister over the computer because she’ll be away from her blogs, just like me!

I’ll be be back on Monday!  :-D
