Medical Internship

September 27, 2011 on 1:47 pm | In Family | Comments Off

My daughter’s boyfriend plans to study medicine in college and is currently doing an internship through the high school. I think it’s fascinating that in high school, he can all ready be working towards a career as a doctor!

Last week he started doing clinicals at a local nursing home. One requirement of the class was that he must wear hospital scrubs. He has this particular class every other day since the school goes on a block schedule. Plus, this particular class is double blocked, in other words, he has it for 2 periods in a row, approximately 3 hours. Most of the students taking the class find it easier to just wear their scrubs to school on the days they have the clinicals, rather than trying to change clothes at school. I hope they visited http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/ for discount scrubs.

Keep in mind that he, like my daughter, is in the high school band which meets promptly at 7 am each morning for marching practice. Yes, he did arrive one day last week wearing his scrubs! My daughter thought it was sort of funny, so she texted me this photo. Personally, I think he looks much better in person, this particular photo makes him look like Albert Einstein in scrubs!

pretty

Our vets tells us at every annual visit that our baby is over weight.  She gets a lot of exercise and eats light dog food, although, I’m sure all those biscuits we give her aren’t helping.  She did manage to lose about 3 pounds at her last visit, but the doctor said she needs to lose at least 5 more.

I am pretty particular about what dog foods I fee our baby because many of the cheaper products give her gas.  Trust me, it’s not fun to be around a dog that has gas; talk about silent but deadly!  Anyway, I’m considering trying out Hill’s Science DietHealthy Mobility Dog Food which is available in 3 different varieties and is designed to help dogs live a happy, mobile and active life.

I can use the Hill’s Healthy Mobility Coupon ($30 in coupon offers!) I receive once I register for the Hill’s Healthy Mobility Challenge.  Once I register, I am automatically entered in the sweepstakes where I might even be one of 30 winners to win free pet food for a year!  That would save me a ton of money while at the same time I could feel confident that with Hill’s Pet Nutrition  I was ensuring our dog was eating a healthy diet.

Check it ou for your furry friend, cat or dog, and be sure to visit Hill’s Pet Nutrition on Facebook

She’s So Cute

shy

I haven’t posted a photo of our baby in eons it seems! So, here she is in all her cuteness. I was standing in the kitchen doing dishes and when I turned around, this is what I saw in the family room.  I guess she was feeling sort of shy on this particular day I guess and seemed like she was attempting to blend in with the curtain! She’s definitely the most snuggly over weight dog I know though, we just love her!

Lower Cell Phone Bills

This post brought to you by TracFone. All opinions are 100% mine.

We don’t have a landline in our home, so that means that we all have cell phones, including our 15 year old daughter.  She doesn’t talk on the phone too much, but her fingers and thumbs are always tapping away on that touch screen sending texts back & forth to all her friends.  I learned early on that our cell phone bill could be ridiculously expensive if I wasn’t careful.  If you’re looking for a way to reduce your cell phone bill, pay attention!

Real TracFone customers  will attest that you can get a great phone, jam packed with So many features and still pay a very low monthly fee.  You don’t have to give up having a cool phone to get a great service.  With Tracfone, you can pay as you go with no contract, service agreements or credit check.  They also offer 1 year service cards that will give you double minutes for the life of your TracFone, and 800 minutes, for only $119.00.  Maybe you have a very young child who might only need to use the phone in an emergency, there is a plan for that for as little as $9.99/month.

Oh, did I mention that international calls are included at no extra cost?!  I don’t know if there is another cell phone service provider that can say that!

High School Football

September 8, 2011 on 1:35 pm | In Some of This Some of That | Comments Off

The season is under way, in fact, our school has all ready played its first 2 games, 2 wins I might add!

I’m just curious, what’s the farthest distance your high school football team travels for a game? Tomorrow night, ours is traveling 2 1/2 hours away to play a game. Our ginormous band, including my daughter, is also traveling to the game. We live in the Dallas metroplex and it just seems to me that there are plenty of team locally to play without having to incur these travel expenses. Keep in mind, our band is the largest marching band in the country and requires 26 buses, and several equipment trucks to get to an away game.

Oh well, I do hope they have fun and I also hope the football team wins. My husband and I have decided that the game is just too far away for us to go, we’ll be going out to dinner instead to celebrate our wedding anniversary. :-)

She Has a Dream

This post brought to you by UPromise. All opinions are 100% mine.

She’s a sophomore in high school and before you know it, my daughter will be entering college.  She has a dream of becoming a professional of some sort, she hasn’t yet pinpointed exactly what type of professional, although recently she mentioned sports marketing as an area of interest.  As a parent, the financial implications of putting a child through college is very daunting.  For that reason alone, I’ve been a member of Upromise for about 10 years.

Upromise helps its member to earn college savings through their rewards program and now, in honor of their 10th anniversary, they are sponsoring a sweepstakes, giving away $20,000.  This is a way for Upromise to thank its loyal members and to further support the dreams of so many.

Visit www.upromisetodream.com to enter the sweepstakes by sharing your dream for your child and their future.  You could even be one of the weekly $1000 winners.  Even better, you could be the grand prize winner of $10,000!

Users can visit the Dream Wall at Upromise and vote, or “like”, their favorite stories.  Don’t wait, check the dream wall official rules and submit your entry, it doesn’t get any easier!  Feel free to share your dreams here too!
