Family

My mom has arrived!

I’m always nervous when she says she’s coming.  Not because I don’t love having her here, but because it means she is driving cross county, once again, all by herself.  She winters in Arizona and summers in Indiana, and makes that long drive twice a year, once in each direction.  So, I worry.

I wish I could take time off to drive with her, but it’s just not possible right now.  Oh well, at least she is once again, sitting safely in my family room and we are enjoying having her here!

Happy Birthday to Me!

This is it, the day I become officially 50 years old. I’m trying to enjoy a happy day, but I can’t quit thinking about the big number. I went and got a facial, got the car washed (makes me feel better to have a clean car), went clothes shopping for myself (a rarity when you have a teenager), and had Sonic for lunch. Came home and ate some chocolate covered cherries that my husband got me and now have a project to finish up for my daughter’s softball team.

Not much of an exciting day, but hey, maybe keeping it low key is the way to go!

March

Is March as crazy of a month for you as it is for me? Seriously, I feel like I can’t breath because there is so much going on.

March is a peak month for us at work, so instead of my usual 20 hours per week, I have to work a minimum of 25 hours per week. I know 5 hours difference doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, it can really put a dent in my schedule!

March is also a month filled with birthdays, in particular my daughter’s and my own. Our special days are less than a week apart, and hers comes first. I feel like I spend so much time getting ready for her birthday that by the time mine comes, I have no more energy, and no more money. This week is especially difficult for me because it’s the big 5-0. Just saying that brings tears to my eyes.

I had really hoped to be able to go away someplace special to forget celebrate this day. Instead, I am working every single day except the actual day, and don’t have the money to go anywhere. I am going to go get a facial that morning, and I think maybe a pedicure. Maybe that will help me get through it, a little pampering.

Oh yea, and my mom is coming this month! At some point, I need to find time to clean house!!
