I LOVE this show! Have you seen it? Check out this video, it’s from one of my favorite episodes with the CEO of Great Wolf Lodge. CEO or not, I would have had the same reactions she did in trying to work with a whole bunch of kids and critters!

Irritated Skin?

December 29, 2010 on 5:01 pm | In Some of This Some of That | Comments Off

This post brought to you by Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.

I remember when our daughter was a mere baby and in diapers.  We always want what is best for our children and it was always difficult to see her suffering from irritated skin, particularly diaper rash.  I seriously would start to cry because I felt I wasn’t being a good mom if her skin was all red and irritated.

Mom’s today should really check out  Boudreaux’s Butt Paste when it comes to keeping diaper rash under control.  It was developed by a pharmacist under direction of a pediatrician with a goal of conquering diaper rash.  It contains 16% zinc oxide and Peruvian balsam to not only treat diaper rash, but sooth irritated skin.  It’s available in 5 different size tubes, including a travel size which is super convenient to keep in a diaper bag.

Boudreaux’s Butt Paste has been featured on many television shows including both The Today Show and The Oprah Show.  But what I like the most about the product is the light, pleasant scent and the fact that it not only protects but also relieves irritated skin.  Frankly, I have to be honest, I love the name too!

By the way, be sure to visit the Boudreaux’s Butt Paste  website and get your free sample!

Nursing Scrubs

December 27, 2010 on 10:56 am | In Family | Comments Off

I can’t believe it, but it’s been about 2 years now since I attended my niece’s graduation from nursing school! Time flies! She has been a nurse for quite a while, but she went back to school to get her RN degree and, most recently has gone to work as a school nurse, something she’d wanted to do for a very long time. I’m so very proud of her!

Working as a nurse, particularly as a nurse with children, she prides herself in making her little patients comfortable. I know my daughter was always afraid of the school nurse for some reason! I think children respond well to doctors and nurses who make attempts to let the children know they are there for them, they’re not just another scary authoritative adult! My niece likes to wear cotton nursing scrubs to work because the cotton is so comfortable. If she’s comfortable, she is more likely to put those kids fears at ease. She is now able to find them designed specifically for women, so she doesn’t have to feel like a slob when she’s dressing for work, she knows her scrubs fit!

She has found that she has even more options when she buys her nursing uniforms online and can even find fun fabric prints that she enjoys wearing and the kids enjoy seeing her in. Blue Sky scrubs website has so many choices that I know my niece would enjoy buying from them. I’ve always thought it was cute to see professional adults dressing toward their target audience! I’ve seen everything from cartoon characters to pretty floral prints and even butterflies. Seriously, even a sick kid could be made to feel better by seeing any of those fabrics! Nurses in uniform don’t have to look scary and intimidating to do their job. Soft pretty fabrics not only make them feel better in their job, but can actually comfort the children they are seeing. So, why not enjoy the work uniform by having it made in fun fabrics?

I’m just glad that my niece enjoys what she is doing. I think anyone who works as a nurse is special!

Of course, these are just my own opinions. Even though Blue Sky scrubs is paying me to review their site, I do think anyone who wears scrubs to work would enjoy shopping their website and sprucing up their scrub wardrobe!

Hot Apple Pie

Apple Pie 001

I am quite proud of this apple pie. You see, it’s the first one I’ve ever made from scratch. Now, I have to admit, I didn’t make the crust, but I did peel, core and slice the apples myself! I also made the yummy sauce that made the apples even more delicious. I might have to make another one for Christmas dinner.

This post brought to you by Toms of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s once again time for my 6 month dental check up.  I have my appointment on Monday.  My daughter had her check up last week, and, believe it or not, my husband even had a check up a few months ago, his first in well over 10 years!  Dental hygiene is important to me, I want to set a good example for my daughter so she has it ingrained to take care of her teeth.  I’ve hear, and I believe, that good dental health leads to good physical health.

I am hearing more and more about Tom’s Of Maine which is a company that  uses natural products in its oral and personal care products.  I like the Wicked Fresh!™ Long-lasting Fresh Breath Toothpaste because it not only fights cavities, but it also provides long lasting fresh breath.  There is nothing worse than talking to someone who has bad breath!  My husband is a mouthwash user, so I’m sure he’d like to try their Wicked Fresh! Mouthwash, also made from natural ingredients.

I’d also like to use  Tom’s Of Maine because I can submit my very own Wicked Fresh! moment or experience and be entered to win a Target $500 gift card or other prizes!  You can check out the contest details for yourself by visiting That’s Wicked Fresh contest page

Softball Season Here We Come!

December 11, 2010 on 1:10 pm | In Family | Comments Off

I am so very proud of our daughter.  She is a freshman in high school and just found out yesterday that she made the junior varsity softball team for the school!  She has really been working very hard and deserves to play for the team.  Of course, she plans to continue playing for her travel team as well, so we will be very busy come softball season!  First scrimmage game is scheduled for February 1, so it’s really not too far away! :-)

Holiday Decorating

This post brought to you by Pier 1 Imports. All opinions are 100% mine.

We put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving.  While my husband worked on the tree, and my daughter hung the tree decorations, I worked on decorating the fireplace mantel and the tables in the family room.  I even decorated our half bath with all of the snowmen I have collected over the years.  In the end, I am somewhat happy with how everything turned out, but I do feel like I’m missing something when it comes time to serve meals, especially deserts.

So, I was checking out Pier 1 the other day and found some really cute red & white Candy Cane dinnerware.  I really love the whole red & white theme, I have quite a bit of it in my existing holiday decorations, so this dinnerware would work perfectly.  I also really like the size of the coffee mugs, we drink a lot of hot drinks during the holidays and I love a good size, solid feeling mug!  I can purchase the pieces individually, so I can get as many as I need and get only what I know I’ll use.  The pattern also has a really nice cereal bowl.  I like both the bowl and mug for filling with treats and then wrapping up with a pretty bow to be given away for holiday gifts

I’m looking forward to the holidays, even if it feels hectic at the moment, I know things will calm down and we’ll just enjoy being together!

Be sure to “Like” Pier 1  on Facebook because they will donate $1 to Toys for Tots for every new fan that they get!
