High School

We are now 5 weeks in to the school year.  By this time of year, the schedule has usually pretty much settled down and we have a good routine in place.  But wait, this is Freshman year.  Add  to that marching band, high school softball, select team softball and a boyfriend, and there is basically nothing routine about it!  We are on the go before the sun comes up and still going long after the sun goes down.  I am in a constant state of being tired and being worried.  What do I worry about?  How about grades, getting to the variety of places we need to be, on time, not forgetting anything or anyone, trying to still get a paycheck and praying to not have a total meltdown.  I know.  Many parents have gone through all of this before me and many more will go through it after, but I don’t seem to be handling it very well.  Which is why, at a mere 6 pm, I would really like to crawl in to my p.j.’s and go to bed!  :-D

Day Off

WOW!  I can’t believe it, we all 3 actually have the day off!  No softball, no band, and even, no football game last night!  I’m not sure how to handle all of this new found freedom!

Normally, we have a high school football game on Friday night, but last night the team had off, so that meant the band also had the night off.  My daughter wound up meeting up with several of the other band members at IHOP for some social time and it sounds as if they had a lot of fun.  I actually went to bed at a reasonable hour and even managed to sleep in until almost 7:30 this morning.  I’ve been catching up on some post writing on my blogs and enjoying some hot coffee while watching hot air balloons out my window.  A very nice way to spend a Saturday morning.  :-D

Have a great weekend everyone!

Designer Scrubs

Does your doctors office look old fashioned? I know mine does. In fact, I’m seriously considering changing doctors because not only does the office appear to be outdated, but the people working there appear to be outdated as well. It sort of makes me feel uncomfortable about getting a diagnosis there, is it going to be up to date and current? Or will it be as outdated as the office?

My daughter’s orthodontist office is the exact opposite of the family physician’s office. She and all her assistants, are always in coordinating scrub sets and they wear current colors. The office is always sparkling clean and well lit and makes everyone feel comfortable, even while getting braces! In fact, her office has a beachy theme and I’ve notice that the scrub colors the staff wears are typically corals and greens, it really looks good and has a nice warm feel, very comforting. This is so completely different from the uniforms and scrubs worn by my own doctor. I can’t honestly say that I get that warm fuzzy feeling when I’m at her office. I wish they’d do something about it, but I think I’ll just have to find me a new doctor’s office! Maybe I should leave a note in their suggestion box telling them where they can buy medical scrubs online and they could see for themselves just how out of date they are!

Note:  This is a sponsored post for which I have received compensation.  While I personally do not wear scrubs of any kind, I do notice what is worn at the doctor offices I visit.  All opinions are 100% mine and I do believe it is nice when a doctor and their staff look good in what they’re wearing.

Softball Weekend

Friday Night Lights rolled right into a full weekend of softball. 24 teams, 6 softball fields, plenty of parents and a heat index hovering around 105 degrees and I’m just happy to be able to say I survived it!  My daughter’s team played a total of 8 games over the two days and I think, when it is all over, they will have taken 7th place.  Not too bad I think!  It was so stinkin’ hot, I’m just glad to be back home in the a/c!

Labor Day

Is it proper to say “Happy Labor Day”?

What are you doing with your long weekend?  Amazingly, I don’t have to work, not  a single day!  My husband’s sisters flew into town to visit and we are just taking it easy, visiting.  It does seem that we’ve eaten an awful lot, I even skipped lunch and STILL feel that I ate a ton today.  My husband truly loves to cook for company and he only knows how to cook in massive quantities, so my frig is now full and I hope to save some of it by moving it into the freezer.  I may not have to cook for a whole week!

So, Happy Labor Day!
