Help With Animal Rescue
October 31, 2008 on 9:18 am | In Dog Sense | 2 CommentsI was visiting blogs and ran across Moshi & Kibo’s Dog Blog where I discovered this great link to help with animal rescue. Simply by clicking on the banner below and then clicking the purple button at the website, a bowl of food is donated to participating charitable animal organizations.
I’ve also added the button to my sidebar so you can feel free to click every time you stop by for a visit. You may even choose to had a banner to your own site.
Dean Martin – Live
October 30, 2008 on 2:19 pm | In Entertainment, Family | 1 CommentTis the season of gift giving, well, almost anyway. I’ve purchased my first two Christmas gifts, one for my daughter which is hidden away, and one for my stepdaughter and her husband. This holiday season will be pretty lean, so it’s important to buy gifts that are wanted and at good prices.
If my father-in-law were still living, I do believe I’d have to get him Martin at the Sands, a live cd boxed set of Dean Martin at the Sands Hotel. The boxed set includes favorites like ‘That’s Amore’, ‘Volare’, ‘Return To Me’, ‘Cha ChaCha d’Amour’, ‘Young And Foolish’, ‘Memories Are Made OfThis’ and ‘Dream A Little Dream Of Me’. What a great gift!
Have you started your holiday shopping yet?
Baby Otter at the Oklahoma Aquarium
October 30, 2008 on 2:06 pm | In Some of This Some of That | Comments OffI find the best things when I’m visiting other blogs! This is a video I watched while visiting Holy Cuteness today. It’s such a sweet little video of the cutest little otter born about 1 month ago. You can read more about the baby otter and her parents at the Oklahoma Aquarium website. This little baby definitely make me want to drive to Tulsa and visit in person!
Wall Street Pays Bonuses After Bailout
October 28, 2008 on 10:15 am | In Finance | Comments OffAs if hearing about how our economy is on the verge of a recession isn’t bad enough, we had to watch as our government gave billions of our tax dollars to Wall Street companies, bailing them out of their own demise. Now, just as many predicted, these same Wall Street companies are paying out big bonuses, in fact, estimates are that $70 million will be paid out in bonuses to those very people that caused the downfall. WTH?!
All this while I get a bill for higher property taxes. Who may I ask is coming to bail me out?
Entertaining Television with Ellen
October 27, 2008 on 3:14 pm | In Entertainment | Comments OffI am sitting here watching Ellen Degeneres and I am laughing so hard I may need a rehab center! She is showing items that are being sold in the middle of the night on infomercials and it’s insane!
To start with, she bought something called Shemala. It’s 2 plastic thumbs that you’re supposed to use for massaging yourself! The instructions don’t make any sense, so she’s making up her own and she’s hysterical. Then she bought “Fast Abs Firming Gel”. You’re supposed to rub it on your abs and that’s how they get firm! Uh yea, right! Then you can massage your sore abs with your plastic thumbs.
Then, once your abs are all nice and firm and you’ve massaged yourself with your new plastic thumbs, you can put on your new dust mop slippers and clean your floors!
Ironman – The Movie
October 27, 2008 on 3:01 pm | In Entertainment | Comments OffThis movie gets into the action immediately, although, in a quite different way then what I expected. I found it really interesting how the developed and explained the background of the main character, Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey, Jr. I must say, I’ve never seen him looking so in shape! That alone made the movie worth watching!
There was a lot of violence, but in the typical good over evel scenario, Tony Stark sees the error of his ways pretty early on. He spends the rest of the movie attempting to put things right. Overall, I found this to be a fun movie and enjoyable to watch.
Getting Caught Up With Desperate Housewives
October 27, 2008 on 11:20 am | In Entertainment | Comments OffI love TIVO, I think it’s the best invention since sliced bread, but I do get frustrated with it sometimes. For example, I have a “season pass” to record episodes of Desperate Housewives, but for some reason, I have to reset it at the beginning of the new season or it doesn’t record. So, because I forgot about this glitch, the season opener didn’t record, I completely missed it. This season skipped 5 years and I’m still trying to figure out why.
I thought the latest episode was supposed to fill in some of those blanks, but I still feel sort of lost. Gaby is still my favorite character and when she thinks she’s pregnant, again, she handles it as only Gaby could. I still can’t figure out why she and Carlos have 2 kids and they’re both overweight. Lynette finds out Tom is going through yet another mid-life crisis. This man just doesn’t seem to enjoy stability in his life. Susan didn’t allow her boyfriend to move in, this made me happy. I haven’t yet figured out why she and Mike got a divorce after all they went through to get married in the first place. We also discover why Bree made Kathryn her partner. Rather than sending Bree to an alcohol treatment center when she discovered Bree had begun drinking again, Kathryn moved in with her and got her through a rough time in her life. What a good friend!
I guess I’m just going to have to watch the first episode in full on the web and try to make sense of what’s going on this season!
10 Good Things to Come From a Recession
October 27, 2008 on 10:58 am | In Finance | 1 Comment- Cheaper Gas Prices
- Safer Banking Practices
- Car makers actually working on production of alternative fuel vehicles, not just talking about it anymore.
- Lower interest rates.
- Lower home prices (this is good only if you happen to be in the market, not so good if you’re a current homeowner watching the market value of your home decline)
- Good deals to be found on the stock market
- Technology continues to get better while prices continue to get lower.
- Food prices shouldn’t be rising too much more.
- Election is almost here and, no matter what, there should be some economic stability once the election is done.
- There are bargains to be found for holiday gift buying!
Dealing With the Stress of Relocation
October 25, 2008 on 8:50 am | In travel | Comments OffWith the economy the way it is, nobody needs the added stress of moving. Unfortunately, with people needing to downsize their mortgages, job changes requiring relocation and, a multitude of other reasons, moving is something many, many people are having to contend with. Whether it’s moving across town, across the country or even a need to find international shipping for your household goods, it’s important to have someone working with you that understands and can provide you with the resources needed to make a move.
I grew up moving on a regular basis because my dad was in the Air Force. My mom was an expert at packing and unpacking. As an adult, I have relocated to 5 different states, and I can tell you, having someone like relocation.com on your side is a huge help. Relocation professionals can help with finding a new home, new mortgage, new rental, household goods shipping, auto shipping, and everything in between. I’ve done all of the legwork myself and it is always so much nicer to work with a professional and let them do all the legwork. It takes a good deal of the stress off.
Don’t do it alone!
