22 Years and Still Flirting
September 4, 2008 on 11:52 am | In Family, My Imagination | Comments OffI was so surprised the other day when my husband informed me that he was planning to take me out to a nice dinner for our upcoming 22nd anniversary. I think I was mostly surprised because so many years when our anniversary has come around, he’s been out of town on business. I was also surprised because he is all ready thinking about it and it’s still a couple of weeks down the road. I thought it was very sweet because he wants us to get dressed up and go out to celebrate. Somehow, when he does things like this, it takes me right back to when we were dating.
Some people think that once you’re married, the flirting stops. I can tell you from experience that our marriage of almost 22 years is at its best when we are flirting with each other. I can be little things like holding hands or complimenting each other. The one thing we both have in common is that we like to look good for each other, from our clothes to our hair. I have to say, I’ve never met a man that is pickier about his hair! Just this morning he informed me that he thought he should call my hair stylist because he has yet to find one since we moved that he feels does a good job with his hair.
Now, by no means would we be in the Ultimate Flirting Championship, but we both remember what it was like when we were dating. When you’re dating, you want to look not just good, but REALLY good. For me, it meant good clothes, attractive make up, and at the top, literally, a good hair day, or, what they now call, “Victory Hair”. Victory Hair means you’re ready to go out there and have fun, enjoy who you are and flirt like there’s no tomorrow.
