End to a Great Weekend

This has really been a great weekend. I love all weekends, but this particular weekend was especially nice for us.

Friday was fairly hectic as my daughter celebrated her first day out of school for summer break, she and I headed out to run errands and purchase all of our supplies for the party we were hosting on Saturday for her softball team. They had a terrific season and we wanted to celebrate that with them. Needless to say, with all of our running, we probably didn’t eat so well. My daughter and I both ate paninis for lunch and they were loaded with cheese. We got home right at dinner time, so we convinced my husband to take us out for dinner, Chinese, which was followed by ice cream.

Yesterday, my husband and I spent the entire morning and afternoon cleaning house (I did that), cleaning the pool (he did that) and mowing the yard (we both did that). We snacked our way through the day because we didn’t have time to stop and eat. Plus, I had all ready cleaned the kitchen and didn’t want to do it again. It was a great workout of a day, but I’m sure we didn’t eat very healthy.

Last night for the party, another player’s dad brought pizza. Other parents brought desserts like brownies and cupcakes, plus we had ice cream sandwiches. Yes, I ate some of everything. I think the only healthy thing I ate yesterday besides a couple of bottles of water was some cantaloupe that somebody had brought. I’m telling you, I’d have to find a lap-band surgeon if I continued to eat like that on a regular basis! Tomorrow is the start of a new week and we’re going back to home cooked meals, the best way I know to control what I eat.

No matter, it was a great weekend and it was fun to entertain for the first time out at our pool. Everything we used was disposable to it either went in the recycling bin or the trash and that was clean up, very easy. The house was still nice and clean this morning when I got out of bed which was fantastic!

What did you do this weekend?

Do you have the perfect child, the one that never does anything wrong? Are you kidding me? There is no such thing! I have a 12 year old going on 16, need I say more?

As parents, we all have days when it feels like the only thing we do is nag at our kids. Whether is about cleaning their room, picking up their toys, or doing their homework (thank goodness it’s summer break!), our kids can sometimes make us feel like we’re at the end of our rope It can be very frustrating and sometimes even make us feel powerless.

Wouldn’t it be great to be back in control, have our parenting powers back? ABSOLUTELY! Ask yourself these questions.

  • Do you feel disrespected, unappreciated, or invisible?
  • Do you ever feel resentful and angry that you get no help from your children at home?
  • Do you keep giving them more stuff and more space and now you don’t know what is going on and you have lost total control?
  • Are you left feeling perpetually exhausted, invisible, and not taking care of yourself?
