Planning A Vacation
June 1, 2008 on 8:14 pm | In Family, travel | Comments OffI spent the last few days planning for my husband’s birthday. It’s going to be a surprise, so I hope he doesn’t choose now to start reading this blog!
In the middle of July, my daughter and I will be driving to Tennessee to attend a flea market where I’ll be meeting my mom and sisters. We’ll be selling (or at least trying to sell) our handmade goods. We’ll be gone for about a week and a half and we’re staying in a really nice cabin that my sister has rented for all of us. We’re pretty excited about the trip, although, recent plans have caused us to shorten our time away.
My husband’s birthday is the end of July. My daughter and I were originally planning on driving up towards Chicago to visit with friends we have been missing since moving south last year. My husband was worried about us being gone so long and doing so much driving. So, my daughter and I talked it over and we have decided that we will come home after the flea market, instead of going to Chicago. Then, we are going to take my husband on a mystery trip for his birthday.
I’m not sure if he reads this blog or not, so I don’t want to say where we’re going. The only information I’ve given him are the dates he needs to take off from work at the end of July and that we’ll be driving. That’s really not much to go on if you think about it. For all he knows, we could be flying and the using a Spain car hire and that would still be “driving”. I didn’t tell him which direction we’ll be going or how long it takes to get there. I didn’t even tell him how far away it is.
Let’s just say, I found us a place that I know we can all three enjoy and there are activities we can do together, as long as we have good weather! He’s very difficult to please though, so I hope he enjoys it.
End of a Terrific Season
June 1, 2008 on 6:33 am | In Family | 3 CommentsYesterday saw the end of a terrific softball season for my daughter. The team played their hearts out and came oh so close to beating the 1st place team. It was definitely a nail biter, but very enjoyable to watch. Our team members each went home with a beautiful runner up trophy and can hold their heads high for a season well played.
Now we are looking for a select (travel) team for my daughter to practice with over the summer. She would at some point like to be placed on a select team, and practicing with them will help hone her skills. She’s also attending a softball day camp in a couple of weeks and I think she’ll enjoy that.
For now, I think we’ll just relax and let her enjoy the memories of a terrific season.
