Travel to Spain
May 17, 2008 on 12:21 pm | In Family, My Imagination | Comments OffWith me thinking so much about my Dad lately, I can’t help but recall all the traveling I did with my parents when I was a teenager. My dad had a job overseas and it allowed us the opportunity to travel to many places we would have never been able to go to otherwise.
One trip that always stands out in my mind is when we traveled to Spain. I was attending high school in Texas, so I flew to Madrid and met them there. At some point I apparently contracted the flu and was fairly sick during the flight. Thankfully, it wasn’t a full flight and I was able to lay down in a big row of empty seats and sleep most of the flight. That was way back when there was actually customer service on airplanes and I was truly taken care of, all the way to Madrid.
My parents had arrived in Madrid a few days before my arrival and used a Car Hire Spain service to pick me up at the airport. The funny thing is, I don’t really remember much else about the trip. I can’t tell you what we saw or visited or even what the food was like.
What I do remember is it being cold, rainy and me not feeling good! I still have a few souveniers from that trip, so I know we hit some shops, I just don’t remember where they were or anything else about them.
We made several other trips to other countries while I was in high school and I do have much better memories of those, especially our trip to Kenya. I’ll have to summarize that trip in another post!
Did you travel with your parents when you were a teen?
Last Day of the Season
May 17, 2008 on 12:12 pm | In Some of This Some of That | 2 CommentsToday was the last day of the softball season. A sad day, but it was a good season, my daughter’s team did well. They were in 1st place going in to today, but they sort of played a lousy game. Even though they won, they gave up enough runs that they may have slipped to second place.
I guess it doesn’t really matter too much. They start the double elimination tournament on Tuesday night, so it’s basically like starting the season all over again. I just can’t figure out why our girls never have any energy. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the team pumped up before the game I’d sure like to hear about it!
