Lawn Mowing

Speaking of mowing the lawn, today was the first mowing of the season and I have to say, it was horrible.

The grass wasn’t overly long, it just looked uneven and in need of a manicure.  The problem was, the grass still isn’t green.  So, when the mower cut the grass, the clipping were dry and just blew in the wind.  The end result?  I was completely covered in grass clipping.  It was really disgusting.

When I was done, I discovered that the clipping were so small that besides covering me, they had blown through the window screens and were covering the kitchen table and kitchen floor.  Everything had to be cleaned before we could sit down and eat dinner.

I’ll be glad when it’s green and less dry.  I thought I was going to need oxygen after breathing all that in today.

American Idol - What was America Thinking?

Watching American Idol on Thursday, I was completely shocked. It started by seeing Michael Johns in the bottom 3.

While Tuesday night’s performance by Michael may not have been his best, it certainly wasn’t deserving of the bottom 3 placement. In my opinion, weak performances were given on Tuesday by Brooke White, Sayesha Mercado, and even David Cook. If the overall performances were considered over the past 5 weeks or so, I’d have to give the boot to Kristy Lee Cook or even Jason Castro. Kristy Lee’s performances may have been stronger the last two performances, but she doesn’t even come close to the talent of Michael Johns. Jason Castro has been timid throughout the competition. He has a unique sound, and I don’t deny that he has talent, but is he an American Idol? I personally don’t think so. Would you buy an entire album of Jason Castro songs? I wouldn’t, even though I very much enjoyed his last performance.

Michael Johns has charisma, extreme talent and is good looking on top of it. Although he’s been booted off, he handled it with such an amazingly gracious style I don’t doubt for a minute that we’ll be hearing from him in album form. He will probably have a record deal before the week is out!
