Interesting Softball Season
April 9, 2008 on 4:34 pm | In Some of This Some of That | No CommentsAnother canceled softball practice. For most softball players, softball season is well under way. The season doesn’t only include games, but practices as well. Sort of makes sense, doesn’t it?
Here in North Texas, the season seems to operate differently, understandably since we have no control over the insane weather.
My daughter was assigned to a girls softball team back in February. This is her first season here, but she has been playing softball in Illinois since kindergarten. Since then, the team has been to the batting cages twice and had one field practice. That’s it. Whenever a field practice is scheduled, it gets rained out which is exactly what happened again tonight.
I feel bad for the girls, never getting to practice as a team. I know the weather is unpredictable, it’s just frustrating.

April 9, 2008 on 3:52 pm | In Some of This Some of That | No CommentsDuring my high school years, my parents lived and worked overseas. During that time, we were privileged to have the opportunity to travel to places we would never have been able to go otherwise. We visited countries in Africa and throughout Europe. I still feel blessed to have been able to see so many wonderful places and have always dreamed of going back. I know traveling to exotic lands is something my daughter would absolutely love to do.
Now imagine, being able to travel overseas and not have to stay in a hotel. Just think how nice it would be to own your own home in a far away land. Now, it wouldn’t make sense to own a home someplace that you only plan to visit for short periods of time, but what about owning property and renting it out? That’s a possibility.
I was looking into overseas property investment agents and came across some very interesting facts. One that caught my attention is that Istanbul, Turkey is considered to be a property hotspot in 2008. Turkey is a beautiful country. Now, another important fact that caught my attention was that rental property is expected to provide a return of 7 - 11%. That’s not too shabby.
Other countries worth considering would include Spain, Malaysia, Brazil, Bulgaria, and even Egypt. Property types range from apartments to villas in all areas of these countries. I think it’s an interesting and possibly profitable idea. With the right property agent, it’s an idea that could have many benefits.
Would you consider or have you all ready purchased property in another country?
