Web Articles Directory – Review

April 8, 2008 on 8:44 am | In Blogging | 1 Comment

If you are looking for online tutorials of Linux or Linux related articles, perhaps you’re interested in building a Linux firewall, this is a great web article directory for finding information on just how to do that.

The web articles directory is very simple to navigate. The most recent articles and tutorials are listed on the front page and older articles are archived and can be accessed either my searching for keywords or by clicking on the page numbers at the bottom of the page. If you’re using key words to search, the search box is near the top left of the page (not the top right as stated in the navigation instructions).

This directory contains over 1,300 articles ranging in topics from Linux tutorials to Arts & Entertainment. The articles are all organized by category and some archives date back as far as 1997. This directory is a great free resource for all types of general information and is easy to navigate.

In addition, articles can be submitted to the directory for publication. Articles are analyzed and, if they meet the quality guidelines, the articles are then published in the directory. This is also a great way to build traffic to your own site because all web articles published in the directory are SEO friendly. Remember, if you wish to submit an article for publication, it must be original content and not previously published.

Orthodontist Update

April 8, 2008 on 8:21 am | In Family Health | Comments Off

As I’ve stated in a previous post, my daughter is getting ready to have braces put on her teeth. I had taken her to two different orthodontists for consults and decided on one of them. I was, however, very uncomfortable with the price quoted for the work to be don. It was about $1,500 more than we had anticipated and the odd thing about it is that our dental insurance will pay up to a maximum of $1,500. Interesting.

So, a couple of weeks ago, I took my daughter in for her dental check up with our new dentist. I explained the situation and he was very surprised at the high cost the orthodontist was asking. This particular dentist had practiced as an orthodontist for many years, and, after examining my daughter, he recommended another orthodontist for her to see. I thought great, here we go again.

Long story short, I took her to the dentist recommended orthodontist yesterday. My daughter and I both like this doctor very much and her office was very well run. Following the consultation I was given the cost and it was right in line with what my husband and I had been thinking all along. So, I wound up scheduling her with this doctor and she will get her braces on in less than two weeks. In the end, we will save about $1,700 over the cost of the more expensive orthodontist and, I believe, we will still get the same quality work done.

I am feeling very good about this decision. Next on my agenda is to make sure I understand how to get reimbursed from our newly created Health Savings Account through my husband’s employer.
