Insomnia

February 29, 2008 on 5:22 am | In My Imagination | 4 Comments

I had been doing really well, I’d actually been sleeping, for the most part.  This week, unfortunately, has been a different story.  I think it stems from the fact that I’ve been unusually busy and there are so many upcoming events that are stressing me out.  If you’re not interested, you may want to skip ahead, but I thought if I were to write a list, to organize my thoughts, perhaps it would enable me to relax a bit and be able to sleep.  I’m so tired right now that my imagination is running on empty.

Here’s my list, in chronological order.

  • Clean house in preparation for daughter’s sleepover party
  • Make restaurant reservations for tomorrow night’s birthday celebration
  • Saturday – spend the day at the mall with daughter and her friends as part of her birthday party
  • Saturday night – sleepover party (hoping to lock myself away in my room)
  • Sunday – take girls to IHOP for breakfast (late)
  • Create embroidery design for Destination Imagination team shirts
  • Create team shirts by next Friday (one week)
  • Monday – Meet with guitar instructor about job, hopefully set a schedule
  • Monday – DI meeting
  • Tuesday – guitar lesson and probably do some work while we’re there
  • Tuesday – daughter’s actual birthday so we will go out to dinner at the restaurant of her choice
  • Wednesday -work at guitar studio (A.M.), DI meeting, (afternoon), software class (evening)
  • Thursday – work at guitar studio (A.M) DI meeting (afternoon)
  • Friday – possible DI meeting
  • Saturday – Destination Imagination Regional Tournament (all day and into the evening)
  • Sunday – stay in pajamas all day (I wish) or, if team does well enough to be selected to go to State, attend State meeting in the afternoon
  • Monday – work at guitar studio, DI meeting, softball practice
  • etc., etc., etc.,

This list could keep going and these are only the major things.  This is not my to do list which is quite full at the moment.  I need my husband to go to work and my daughter to go to school just so I can get busy!

  1. I’ve been dealing with insomnia, too — not just at night when I’m trying to fall asleep, but also in the morning if something wakes me up earlier than planned. (At 40, that “something” is usually my bladder.)

I think I may try making a list like you’ve done. My mind just keeps racing otherwise.

  2. I wanted to thank you for leaving me a comment on my blog. I really appreciated your suggestion about making a memory book with my daughter. It’s a great idea! I can’t believe all of the things you have to do, I got tired just reading your to do list. Good Luck! Heather

  3. Kate – I used to keep a pad of paper & pencil by my bed so that when something would wake me up I could right it down and fall back asleep. I think I need to start the again.
I’ve just got so much going on lately, I need some calm back in my life.

  4. Doutre – You’re welcome, I know it can’t be easy for either you or your daughter. Hopefully, you can find a way to work on it together.
I made it through the day today, my daughter’s birthday party (a day at the mall and a sleepover), so that takes a bunch off of my list! :-D
