Shopping for a New Car?

A few days ago, my husband and I were driving to a restaurant for dinner when we passed by a local car dealership. My eye immediately went to the 10-12 salesmen all standing just outside the front door of the dealership, just standing there, waiting to pounce on the first person that set foot on the car lot.

Now, I don’t know about you, but car shopping is not one of my favorite things to do anyway, but if I drove into a dealership and saw that scene, I’d drive right back out again, never to return. Why do I dislike car shopping so much? The sales people. No matter how prepared I am with my numbers, car information, and financing, I always walk away feeling I’ve been scammed! Perhaps this is why I tend to own my vehicles for a very long time, an aversion to car dealerships.

My husband and I got to talking about why it is that the way we shop for cars has never really changed, even with the onset of the internet. Yes, there are a few car shopping services online and yes, you can obtain car prices online, but I have to wonder, how many people actually do this. If I felt that I was getting a good deal and it would alleviate the need to deal with a sales person, this might be the way I would go. However, I would really want to test drive the car before signing on the dotted line.

I’m not sure if I will or won’t buy my next car online or not, but I will more than likely at least check it out before heading out to the vultures, more commonly known as car salesman.

Band Update

February 6, 2008 on 11:59 am | In Family | No Comments

My daughter was supposed to have her tuba tryout yesterday, we were all in high anticipation.  Unfortunately, once again, her band director did not bring the tuba yesterday.  This is the 4 time now that he has not brought it.  I’m beginning to wonder if he really wants her to give it a try or not.

In other news, my husband and I attended the Junior High parent meeting last night.  We didn’t really learn anything except for the fact that when our daughter hits high school, we want to make sure she is in the Advanced Placement classes, or, even better, the International Baccalaureate classes.  Both programs provide college credits and the IB program, if successful in high school, would allow her to enter college as a sophomore, with 24 college credits! NICE!
