Talk With Your Dog

This is technology at its finest!

A Hungarian scientist has developed a computer software that, when used with a certain breed of Hungarian dog, interprets the dogs barks.  The software is designed to analyze certain distinct barks that indicate the emotional state of the Hungarian Mudi, a herding breed.

Improvements to the software continue to be worked on.  As of right now, the software is only 3% more accurate than humans at determining the meaning behind a dogs barks in 6 particular situations: when the dog is alone, when the dog sees a ball, when the dog fights or plays, when the dogs meets a stranger and when the dog goes for a walk.

While I find this fascinating, I think I’ll wait for a much later version of this software before making my purchase!

Traveling

My husband just returned from Alabama where he’s overseeing an audit of their company’s system. The audit is requiring him to travel quite extensively and he’s missing out on things here at home, including my daughter’s band concert last night.

Next week he will be gone again to Laredo, TX and then back to Alabama. I know he is completely exhausted, and doesn’t see an end in sight as the audit will actually kick off in February and may take up to a year. I certainly wish he could use some type of Network Monitoring to monitor multiple physical locations from his main office. How nice it would be to be able to keep things running smoothly and securely without having to travel.

Guess we just have to suck it up and deal with it for now. I just hope he doesn’t have to miss out on too many family things like he did last night. I know he’s disappointed when that happens. Good thing I have a video camera to keep him updated!
