Puppy’s First Christmas

November 25, 2007 on 8:59 am | In Dog Sense |

This will be an interesting Christmas.  I feel like we have a toddler in the house again!  We’re being very careful with our Christmas tree and how we’re decorating it, not placing any breakable ornaments near the bottom where the dog can get ahold of them.  She does think she’s a goat sometimes, so she eats just about anything.  We have caught her a couple of times all ready trying to chew on light bulbs that are on the tree.  She’s very smart though so I think if we work with her and keep an eye on her she will learn quickly that she’s not allowed to play with anything on the tree.   At least, that’s what I’m hoping will happen!

  1. Ah you have a lab too! I wasn’t sure from your comments on my site whether your pup was a Lab as well. Aren’t they fun!

Mine is such a chewer! I don’t think we’ll dare to put up a Christmas tree this year!

  2. Tricia - Thanks for adding this site to the blogroll! I’m looking forward to building some traffic.

Our puppy is actually a puggle, half pug, half beagle. We also think she got some goat genes in her too because she eats anything and everything. We havent’ had too much trouble with her and the Christmas tree yet, she’s tried to chew on it a few times, but we’ve caught her each time. :-D

  3. Oh, what a cutie!! Since I have a half-pug, too, I can offer a few pointers (?!) about the joy you’ve brought into your home. Enjoy the new baby!

  4. Thanks Tammie! If you have any tips on how to get her to stop eating everything in sight! She likes to eat socks and her all time favorite, undies! Of course, what goes in must come out, one way or the other. Let me know if there’s anything I can do, besides picking everything up! :-D
