Fall Break

My daughter is enjoying this week off from school, it is Fall Break.  She deserves it, she just finished the second six weeks of school and she has been working really hard.  Her math grades are some of the highest that she’s ever had and this is fantastic news.  She has always been getting top grades, but she really struggled with math the last two years.  She became very frustrated and really began to dislike math.  I hated watching this happen.  Last year I spoke with her math teacher several times but just couldn’t seem to get her to understand that the teaching method she was using wasn’t working for my daughter (and according to many parents, it wasn’t working for their kids either).  But, she struggled through and finished the year.

We moved and she spent the summer catching up to where the math classes are here.  The first couple weeks of school in September she was really worried that she wasn’t going to get it.  Then, I really can’t explain why, but everything just began to click for her.  She was understanding the work and what she did comprehend, she got help from the teacher with until she did understand it.  For the first time in three years, I’m not having to reteach the lessons to my daughter at night.  I know this is also a relief for my daughter, she is so much less stressed about school!

So anyway, like I said, she deserves a break.  We are going to just relax this week, maybe do a little shopping and see a movie or two.  I’ll enjoy spending the time with her no matter what we do.
